Beautiful Yet
Practical Spaces

About Us

Hive Architects works with clients all over the UK looking to create beautiful yet practical spaces to live, work, learn, heal or play.

We took our name from the humble bee that embodies so much of what we are about: hard work, beauty, sustainability and collaboration. From breath-taking conversions and grand commercial new builds to inspiring residential developments, every project we work on is unique. And we never stop learning. We are continually investing in our practice and our staff, so we stay at the forefront of new ideas and innovations that can inform our work and benefit your project.

We are fresh, friendly and approachable, and big on collaboration. We are passionate about what we do and love working with others who share the same attitude. Our method is to create strong, simple concepts and use thoughtful detailing to carry those concepts through the design and construction processes, as we transform designs into reality.

If you’re a private client, we can help you add space, light, beauty and value to your property. And if you’re a commercial client, we can help you stand-out from the crowd and strengthen your credibility through excellent design.

If you have a project you’d like to discuss, email the team or call us on 01565 748050.

Our work has won and been nominated for numerous awards and featured in several publications, including:

Architect of the Year - Finalist Structural Timber Awards 2023

Cover Feature Article - Self Build & Design Magazine 2017

Winner of Manchester Architects Small Project of the Year 2015

Private Housing Project of the Year - Finalist Structural Timber Awards 2015

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the very heart of what we do. As architects, we believe we have a responsibility to leave places better than we found them, and create spaces that are fit for the future.

Where possible, we start from first principles: effective insulation, natural light, natural ventilation and sustainable materials. We think about how a building is going to be used and how it may need to evolve. For example, specifying materials that can be easily disassembled and recycled after use.

To us, sustainability is not about ticking a box. We’re committed to finding innovative, sustainable ways to deliver maximum value over the long term. Done well, sustainable architecture can not only create high-quality, inspiring, balanced environments, it can lower a building’s running costs and reduce the overall lifecycle costs.

Our sustainable ethos provides a guiding framework for meeting our clients’ needs, ensuring they have the information and understanding to make informed choices and achieve their objectives.

If you have a project you’d like to discuss, email the team or call us on 01565 748050.
